Alumni Council

The Alumni Council governs The Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association and is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Alumni Association. The Council advises the university on alumni affairs; develops programs to strengthen alumni connections with the university; develops networking opportunities for both alumni and current students; and helps prepare current students for their role as alumni, encouraging them to stay involved with Johns Hopkins long beyond commencement.

The Alumni Council includes approximately 150 voting members and eight student representatives, one from each division. Present and past University Alumni Trustees and young Trustees, the University's Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations will be ex-officio members emeriti. The full Council holds an annual meeting each October.

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee of the Alumni Council consists of approximately 30 members elected from the Alumni Council. The members reflect both the divisional distribution and the domestic geographic distribution of the alumni. The Executive Committee holds regular quarterly meetings, makes operational decisions, carries out the policies of the Council, and receives reports from the Committees and the professional staff.

Alumni Council members serve three-year terms, which may be renewed once. Council members must be nominated, and they must be dues-paying members of the Alumni Association and annually support the development efforts of the university.
